Pop Art (most commonly known as Comic Art) originated in the 1950's in Britain and later in the U.S.A. Pop art often takes as its imagery that which is currently in use in advertising. It is normally used to make comics, advertisements and mundane cultural objects. It is most often through the use of irony.It is also associated with the artists' use of mechanical means of reproduction or rendering techniques. Among those artists seen by some as producing work leading up to Pop art are Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Tom Wesselmann, Pablo Picasso, Marcel Duchamp, Kurt Schwitters, and Man Ray.
